The educational website is designed to facilitate healthcare professionals to deliver consistent sexual health education, support and advise in a manner that positively supports the sexual and emotional health and well being of young people under 25 in the Southern Health and Social Services Board in Northern Ireland. To date, over 200 learners including GPs, pharmacists, health visitors, nurses, teachers and youth workers, who are involved in promoting the sexual health of young people have already registered with the programme since its launch. On receiving the award, Breda Teahan, Health Promotion Commissioner with the SHSSB said: I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of everyone involved in the development of seXeLearning. This is a truly innovative programme developed in partnership with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies to raise awareness of key issues relating to sexual health promotion. The programme helps professionals deliver consistent support and advice to young people. A delighted Dr Maureen Murphy (Aurionlearning MD) attributed the success of the project to the strong partnership between all parties involved and welcomed the much needed recognition of eLearning in the Northern Ireland marketplace where Aurionlearning already serve a broad range of public and private sector organisations. Dr Murphy commented: Aurionlearning have traditionally focused on the wider UK and Southern Ireland markets winning some very high profile contracts with organisations such as City and Guilds and the Chartered Institute of Marketing for example. However over the last number of years we have noticed a considerable increase in the demand for good eLearning here in Northern Ireland with key content areas focusing on Company Induction programmes and workplace Equality & Diversity seXeLearning has also been shortlisted for the Irish eGovernment Awards which will take place in Dublin on Thursday the 21st of February 2008 in the plush Four Seasons Hotel.
