Award winners

Aurion Learning win 02 Digital Media eLearning Award; Aurionlearning were among the winners of the 6th Digital Media Awards which were announced at a gala ceremony in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the 7th February 2008. Prizes were presented in 16 categories by MC Dave Fanning, who presided over a crowd of 500 digital media professionals. Minister Eamon Ryan, T.D. attended the ceremony as guest of honour.

Aurionlearning took home the award for Best eLearning product for their work on the GAAs exciting new Fundo Learning resource. The announcement was made at the awards ceremony held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry last night with Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Eamon Ryan, TD, in attendance as guest of honour.

The resource has received excellent feedback since it was launched by Uachtarn Nickey Brennan in Croke Park last October, and has been hailed by Kerry manager Pat OShea as the best coaching resource that has come out of any sport in Ireland over the past quarter of a century.
Each pack contains an integrated series of resources incorporating booklets, DVDs and DVD-ROMs which enable parents, teachers and coaches to provide quality training for child players from Nursery level to the end of Primary School.

The resource was developed under the remit of the National Games Development Committee in partnership with a consortium of suppliers including Aurionlearning who were responsible for the overall educational and Instructional design of the Learning programme. Fiona Quigley, Director of Learning and Innovation at Aurionlearning highlighted that:

this interactive learning Resource places the GAA at the cutting edge of the latest developments in interactive video-based eLearning. Using revolutionary accelerated learning techniques, amateur and professional GAA coaches alike now have access to a wealth of skill demonstrations and practice activities, along with a unique Coaching Planning tool to create their own coaching sessions to help all levels of students progress. The Resource also helps the GAA broaden their delivery remit and reach by providing a consistent coaching message in an easy accessible form for GAA Ireland and also for GAA enthusiasts within the international arena.

Project Leader and recently appointed Games Development Manager Jimmy DArcy stated that, the announcement endorsed the GAAs innovative approach to developing resources which utilise the most up to date in learning and information technology but that the key to the success of the project will be the extent to which the resource assists quality coaching in Clubs and Schools.

The awards, sponsored by Connect-World, the Digital Hub, and Interactive Return, recognise and reward the most stylish, creative, and pioneering work in the field of digital media, including podcasting, blogging, web design, film, animation, advertising, innovation and e-learning.
